Health Adventure - New Veggies with a CSA

Hello Adventurers! Hope your new year is off to a great start!

My health adventure of the past few months...joining a CSA! Community sustained agriculture is a way to get farm fresh, organic veggies each week and support local farms.

The one I joined is called Grow Dat and I get a big bag of veggies each week. They also work with youth to encourage leadership skills…check them out at https://growdatyouthfarm.org/.

I often get veggies I’ve never eaten before, or some that I’ve never even heard of! I love trying things like turnips and pac choi that I’ve never eaten. Check online for a CSA near you. Can’t find one? Drop by your local farmers market for local grown fresh produce each week.

Benefits I have found to joining a CSA:

  • I eat a wider variety of veggies! I am automatically getting a whole bunch of them each week, and need to eat them so they don’t go to waste!

  • Learning about new foods - Grow Dat gives you recipes each week, so you can learn to cook some of the more unusual items, which is fun.

  • I eat organic. I know organic is the way to go…but often times end up trying to save money by getting conventional fruits and veggies. Getting food from the farm each week I know at least some of my veggies are organic and delish

  • Good for the environment - this food is grown like two miles from my house. I run past the farm on a regular basis. It saves on the packaging, refrigeration and transport costs that so much food in the store goes through.

If you're looking for a little support and accountability on your wellness journey, let's connect! I’d love to work with you and share my tips and trick on how to make your life a healthier and more adventurous one!
